We here in the states associate spring with April but our friends down under associate it with fall. April, a fall month likened to October here is hard for most of us to imagine. The Romans called it Aprilis that has come from the verb aperire, "to open" apparently because it was the time when trees and flowers began to bloom. To confuse things further April was the second month in the Roman calendar. Anyway, here we are and it is almost over. JOIN ME IN A CUP OF TEA
Some years ago I received this in a letter from a book friend/customer that I rediscovered this when I was cleaning out my overstuffed filing cabinets. Linda wrote:"While in Victoria, I made a pilgrimage to Murchie's tea shop and replenished my supply of Empress Afternoon Blend (which I'm sipping now, but the way). It reminds me of a passage from Tea with Jane Austen by Kim Wilson. Wilson is citing a 19th century song aptly named the "The Tea".
The tea! - the tea! - the wholesome tea!
The black, the green, the mix'd, the good, the strong Bohea!
For it's good for the nerves, and warms the heart,
And from it I will never part....
And death, whenever he comes to me,
Will find me-drinking a good up of tea.

What we need to remember is that having a cup of tea is much more than dunking some tea bag into hot water. I've discovered the shape of the tea bag affects the flavor. In the usual flat tea bag the tea hasn't enough room to expand fully which lowers the quality of your tea. There are tea companies, like Revolution Tea that uses a triangular tea bag they call the infuser. I've used it and can recommend it. When used with a high grade of tea (which they use) you will never go back to a regular tea bag.
I learned from them that brewed tea is referred to as the "liquor". They also explained that machine picked and processed tea contains uppermost buds but also older leaves and stalks and stems. That's what we usually buy in a grocer store. The best tea grows in higher elevations and on steep slopes so hand picking is the only way to go. This is premium tea and what makes tea lovers happy.

I will let her stitch art speak for itself which will give you a wonderful insight into her work than all the words I could write would. I learned about Jean from John Waddell who was luckily in Phoenix and dropped off his Kimono book at my house. This book is listed down further in this article. He and his wife were all excited about going north to gorgeous Sedona (Arizona's Red Rock country) to take a class in 3D textiles from Jean Draper and I had to discover her work (I knew her book listed below.) They told me she was coming out with a new book in autumn of 2017 called Stitch and Pattern. Something great to look forward to.
